We're excited to have you here. To start off, we'd love to get to know you! Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do!

I am a Nehiyaw Iskwew multidisciplinary designer who values playfulness and care as a means of exemplifying a more diverse colourful standard of beauty. Nostalgia sings into my designs and my work is refined yet will always have a 90's pop edge. Each piece of mine is created by colour stories from past memories. My designs empower imperfections where each piece I produce is never the same and the definition of the word "flaw" is celebrated.

When told about the theme for this exhibit, how did you begin the creative process?

As soon as I heard about the "Magic Items" exhibit, I immediately thought of a mirror because mirrors provide feelings and an illusion. What you see in the mirror may not be what others see and I thought that was extremely magical. I then wanted to use materials that can be repurposed so I went to a few local thrift shops to find the right mirror for the job! Once I had the mirror which was the foundation of the piece, I then started sketching out shapes that I am best known for which is the "flubber" shape and it all just started to become clearer and clearer on what I wanted to create after that.

Tell us your magic item.

My magic item is "The Flubber Mirror" which is created with a thrifted mirror, expanding foam, and hand tufted 100% vegan yarn pieces . The Flubber Mirror is designed to have a 3D flubber look to it to create an even more 3D feel in the virtual space. Mirrors incapsulate beautiful reflections with lighting bouncing off and I envisioned this piece to bring that magic feeling from texture, colour, and light.

Who or what influences do you look to for inspiration?

I am always inspired by what I would love in my 13 year old bedroom back in 2004. Each piece I produce is a love letter to myself on what I would have in my childhood bedroom. I am continuously obsessed with the early 2000's aesthetic with design, it carries so much colour and grooviness that I feel was a little lost over time with the white & black minimalism look.

If you were a flavour of ice cream, what would it be and why?

I think I would be my ultimate favourite ice cream which is SuperKid. My dad would always take me to the mall to get that ice cream, it's colours are yellow, red and blue and has a flavour I can't even describe.

What are you reading right now?

I currently have Paris Hiltons new memoir on my bed stand and just haven't had the time to start yet due to all the new housewives episodes that have been releasing. Does watching reality tv count in this question?
