About

While studying design at Concordia University, I chose to focus my skills on graphic design and clothing. Working with brands such as Grimey, Dime, and Adidas, I have had the opportunity to grow my skillset by creating Clothing graphics, accessory's , and advertising campaigns. Apart from commercial work, I pursue my own Clothing Label, Sick Day, where my brand partner Adam and I incorporate our own tastes in art and fashion and mash them together to create unique graphics and cut-and-sew pieces.

I'm Ethan, Its_Appleboy on Instagram, I am a designer and multi media artist from Chelsea Quebec, now a resident of Montreal. I'm really into collectable stuff like artist toys, shoes, special edition books, Supreme mac and cheese all that. Its sick and unique and i guess that's what i like to encapsulate in my work, Unique collectability, something that stands out and people want to have and take care of. I would Love to make more objects such as lamps, art toys, zines and so on.

When told about the theme for this exhibit, how did you begin the creative process?

Honestly, I had the skate decks laying around my house and I wanted a reason to paint them and this was my opportunity. I thought the connection of two items with a magic item and artwork was a cool idea. I kinda just sat on the idea for a while until I had the idea to just freestyle airbrush. I chose to make a tryptic of of boards because that the standard for most artist board collection you see.

Tell us your magic item.

My magic item is a Dime bag I found in parc Jean Mance, with Nuclear symbols all over it.

Who or what influences do you look to for inspiration?

Lately I've really been into Harmony Korine's new venture Edglrd, and his paintings and work surrounding that new brand I think its future thinkin with his idea of combining AI, film and Design mixed with Miami skateboarding its just chaotic.

If you were a flavour of ice cream, what would it be and why?

No idea, but bring back the Gumball eyes on the sponge bob popsicles.

What are you reading right now?

I just bought the Jerry Hsu Lonley city, no words whatso ever but I like his Photo direction
