alyssa:

Alyssa Bunce (she/her), multidisciplinary artist, focussed on performance, poetry and visual arrangements. My practice ranges from feeling secretive to exhibitory. I choose my medium based on a wish to bring an idea to the physical world with the least possible interference. Across the forms that my works embody, I often lean on symbols for means of communication. I explore themes such as sensuality, substance dependency, the invisible, and the interconnectedness of living things.

et:

When told about the theme for this exhibit, how did you begin the creative process?

et: We're excited to have you here. To start off, we'd love to get to know you! Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do!

alyssa:

Letting my mind play with the textures of amphibian life. Imagining how it would feel to be a frog with an abdomen full of offspring, gelatinous life-essence. Through my imagination I tried to understand the sensory world of an amphibian from the inside. Playing pretend, following my curiosity. I recalled the thrilled marvel of finding frog eggs at a swamp, when I was a child - how miraculous they seemed. I looked to the place inside where human existence / amphibious existance overlap.

et:

Tell us items in your work.

alyssa:

A Grasshopper encased in resin. You can observe the intricacies of its body from all angels.

et:

If you were a flavour of ice cream, what would it be and why?

alyssa:

Jackfruit Flavour because I think it's a magical fruit, I always feel happy when I eat it.

et:

Who or what influences do you look to for inspiration?

et: We're excited to have you here. To start off, we'd love to get to know you! Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do!
